Antique Plates

I have always had an appreciation for the past. ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with antiques. Recently my passion is for antique plates. I am now an avid collector of antique plates. These plates are so timeless and really show the feeling of the period they were created in. Many of these plates are valuable from a monetary standpoint and others just have sentimental value. I started my collection when my grandmother left me her antique china set that she got from her mother when she was married. The gorgeous and intricate markings of this china are a site to be seen.

Estate Sales: Some amazing quality pieces here.

Garage Sales: Remember the early bird gets the worm.

Auction Websites: This allows you to buy pieces that aren't local. Great variety here.

Pawn Shops: These pawn shop owners know what they are buying. Some high quality pieces here.

Craigslist: I look here regularly and find amazing deals from private sellers.

Classified Ads: Some great deals and you can definitely negotiate pricing.

I always check the antique plates I buy for cracks and chips on both sides. Even small cracks will turn into big cracks eventually. Also, remember to always hand wash antique plates and be gentle with them. Antique plates are old and have character but if you treat them right they will last for lifetimes.
